Bioactive peptides-derived from marine by-products: development, health benefits and potential application in biomedicine

Increased fisheries products have raised by-products that are discarded due to low economic value. In addition, marine still rich in protein and nutritional value biological activities give benefits human health. Meanwhile, there is pressure for sustainability practices industries reduce waste minimize the detrimental effect on environment. Thus, valorization through bioactive peptide mining crucial. This review focus various ways obtain peptides from hydrolysis, instance chemical hydrolysis (acid based), biochemical (autolysis enzymatic hydrolysis), microbial fermentation, subcritical water hydrolysis. Nevertheless, these processes drawbacks which need be considered. also addresses favorable pharmaceutical industries, including antioxidant, antihypertensive, anticancer, anti-obesity, other beneficial bioactivities. some potential resources of Indonesia biopeptide their by-product or undesired commodities would addressed as well.
